Southampton Friends Meeting Christmas Candlelight Celebration

Tuesday, December 22, 2020 7:30 pm

As we gather: 7:15 pm Prelude: Instrumental Christmas Music: Harry Rothwell, Autoharp

In the program below, a time of silence will separate each song and reading.

Program 7:30 pm via Zoom. Clerk – Carolyn Peters Michener
During the program all need to mute except the speaker or song leader. You are welcome to sing along while muted. The scores of the songs, from the Friends hymnal Worship in Song, will be screen-shared.
Music provided by Carolyn Peters Michener on piano and autoharp, and Jim Michener on the violin.

O Come All Ye Faithful, 3 verses

Reading: Luke 2:1-20, read by John Cuorato

Angels We Have Heard on High, 2 verses

Poem The Tuft of Flowers by Robert Frost, read by Jim Michener

The First Noel, 3 verses, led by Hans Peters

Reading: Matthew 2:1-15, read by Karen Freedman

We Three Kings of Orient Are, 5 verses

Poem All Those Mothers at the Manger by Norma Farber, read by Hans Peters

We Are the Boat/Somos el Barco (a song of unity), 4 verses, led by Carolyn Peters Michener

Poem “I will light candles this Christmas” by Howard Thurman, read by John Magee

Let us light candles as we are led, speaking from our hearts, letting the Spirit of God flow through us, sharing of ourselves this Christmas season. Let us remember people not only in our community, but also, all over the world. Introduced by Stephen Moyer (15-20 minutes) People can speak/light candles at home and Stephen can put in the sandbox at the Meetinghouse.

Silent reflection for a few minutes
